With over 13 million acres the Wrangell-St. Elias is the largest National Park in the U.S. Locals say that even if you spend a lifetime at the park you will only touch the surface of this huge wilderness. Due to its size, it is impossible to see everything in one trip. The park spans an area larger than both Rhode Island and Vermont. Yet with only 57,221 visitors in 2004, it is a place of solitude and great majesty.

Wrangell-St. Elias includes the largest assembly of glaciers and peaks over 16,000. Mount St. Elias, at 18,008 feet, is the second highest peak in the United States. Camping, Flight seeing, Hiking, Rafting, Mountaineering, Sport Fishing and Hunting can all be experienced at Wrangell-St. Elias. The National Park Service warns that being prepared is a crucial factor in enjoying the park. Choose a few spots and explore them well. Then come back for more on another trip.
