Arches National Park consists of two thousand natural sandstone arches which lie atop an underground salt bed that is responsible for the unique geological formations. The picture above is of the world famous Delicate Arch from the North side. Although the National Park Service cites the photographer and date as unknown, U.S. Geological Survey’s historical archives attributes similar photos to a photographer named M.O. McKnight in July 1927. Arches National Park is in Moab, UT. It is open year round for activities like backpacking; hiking; camping, and climbing.
